The 2019 Solheim Cup takes place from 13th to 15th September at the PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles in Perthshire. We’ll be supplying a fleet of cars and vans to make sure the event runs smoothly and that players and match officials travel safely.
Why should you go? Here are five reasons to visit this year’s Solheim Cup…
The Solheim Cup sees the best players from the Ladies European Tour and the US Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour go head-to-head in an exciting four-day event. It’s a similar event to The Ryder Cup, with 28 matches and 12 players from each side battling for the trophy. Europe will be aiming to secure their first win since 2013, with the US team currently holding a 10-5 advantage since the event first started back in 1990.
The first recorded game of golf in Scotland dates back to the 15th century. In 1764, the Links at St Andrews were reduced from 22 holes to 18, creating the standard course format we still use today. While you’re in Perthshire, why not squeeze in a round (or two) of golf at one of the other world-famous golf courses like Crieff, Murrayshall or Pitlochry?
As well as fantastic golfing action, the Solheim Cup promises to be a weekend of fun for all the family. With a dedicated family area that has child-friendly catering, fun interactive activities, high chairs and baby changing facilities, you can take the little ones knowing that they’ll be entertained. And, the best part is that children aged 16 and under go free when accompanied by a paying adult.
With on-site parking, a Park & Ride option from two locations, convenient public transport links and several drop-off and pick-up points, there are lots of ways to get to the Solheim Cup. If you’re planning on driving to the event, we’re also offering 20% off car hire when you use the code ‘SC20’. Just show your Solheim Cup ticket when you collect your vehicle.
As we’re the official rental partner of the event, the Arnold Clark Car & Van Rental team will be there to cheer on players and meet customers. If you’re planning on going to this year’s Solheim Cup, be sure to visit us at our stand in the spectator’s village. We’ve got lots of goodies to give away and you’ll have the chance to win great prizes, too! You’ll even get to chat to our friend and professional golfer, Gemma Webster.
