Checklist for a first-time hire from Arnold Clark Car & Van Rental

It’s understandable to be a bit apprehensive about doing something for the first time.

However, when it comes to hiring a car or van, it’s never been easier.

Whether you’re booking a car for a trip with family, or needing a van to help you move home, we’ve got your covered.

Arnold Clark Car & Van Rental is here to help, and we’ve put together a handy checklist for those who may be using us for the very first time.

Planning

It might seem obvious, but planning is key when it comes to hiring a car or van for the first time.

It’s important to consider who you will be travelling with, where you will be driving to and how long you will be driving for. Sure, a sports car might look cool, but will you be able to fit your luggage in the boot?

If you’re looking to hire a van to move furniture, we have a wide range to choose from, meaning you don’t have to settle for a one-size-fits-all approach.

Booking

Consider if you need the car or van early in the morning or late at night, as some branches might not be open, and you might need to pick it up at an alternative time.

Once you’ve picked which car or van you’re looking for, we recommend booking it early in order to avoid disappointment. By booking in advance, you eliminate the risk of missing out on the vehicle you want the most.

We would suggest that you hire a vehicle you are familiar with, so that you are confident you can drive and park it easily.

You can get a free quote from our website and make your reservation once you’re happy. Don’t forget that you need to be 23+ years old to hire a vehicle.

Collection

You will need your DVLA code, a current valid driving licence, credit card and a recent bill or bank statement in order to pick up your hired vehicle.

During branch opening hours, you can make use of either collections or a shuttle bus at airport locations, however you need to let the branch know in advance.
