How to use Arnold Clark Car & Van Rental: The step-by-step guide

If you’re in need of hiring a car or van, then look no further.

Arnold Clark Car & Van Rental have 38 branches across the UK, offering expert vehicle hire to customers from all over the world.

We understand that hiring a car or van for the first time can be daunting, but it doesn’t need to be.

Here, we’ve put together a short, step-by-step guide to help if you’re a first-time Rental customer.

Preparing to go

Where to start? Well, it’s best to establish some details to make sure you find the right vehicle to fit you.

Think about when you’ll need the car or van, and for how long. If you need it early in the morning or late at night, some branches might not be open and you might need to pick up the vehicle at an alternative time.

We would suggest that you hire a car you are familiar with, so that you are confident you can drive and park it easily.

If you're not driving alone, you can add additional drivers to the hire; just let us know when you book, but don’t forget that you need to be 23+ years old to hire a vehicle.

Pick-up

When you go to your preferred branch to pick up your hired vehicle, you will need your DVLA code, a current valid driving licence, credit card and a recent bill or bank statement.

The price of a rental from Arnold Clark is inclusive of insurance. An excess will be charged for any vehicle accident damage however, an optional excess waiver can be purchased (subject to qualification).

Minimum rental period is one hour. However, hourly rentals can only take place within office opening hours.

Hourly car rentals have zero excess and include fuel, VAT and insurance. Mileage is limited to 125 miles per hire, with additional mileage charged at 30p per mile.

For rentals up to three days, 250 miles per day are included free of charge. Mileage is unlimited for hires of four days or more.

After-hire

The vehicle will be fully inspected by the branch staff to make sure there are no damages. During branch opening hours, you can make use of either collections or a shuttle bus at airport locations, however, you'll need to let the branch know in advance.
