Renting a car – your journey explained
If you are hiring a car for the first time the experience can be a bit confusing. However hiring from us is pretty straightforward. We thought we’d make it even easier – by outlining some things you need to consider before and after you hire a vehicle.
Before you go
There are a number of things you need to do before you choose your hired vehicle. First of all you need to consider the following:
- How long and when do you want the car for? Consider if you need it early in the morning or late at night, as some branches might not be open and you might need to pick up the car at an alternative time.
- Are you of age? Don’t forget that you need to be 23+ years old to hire a vehicle.
- Will you drive alone? You can add additional drivers to the hire; just let us know when you book.
- What size of car do you think you’ll need? Our advice is always to go bigger than you think, especially if you will be travelling a long distance and/or you have children with you. At the end of the day, you want everyone to be comfortable.
- What make or model of car do you need? We would suggest that you hire a vehicle you are familiar with, so that you are confident you can drive and park it easily.

In the branch
- Did you bring your documents? Don’t forget that you will need your DVLA code, a current valid driving licence, credit card and a recent bill or bank statement in order to pick up your hired vehicle.
- Did you buy insurance? An excess is applicable. This can be reduced by purchasing additional insurance.
- Did you book any extras (child seat, specific GPS)? Please be mindful there might be extra charges for this.
After the hire
- Will the car be inspected? Yes, the car will be fully inspected by the branch staff so it’s advisable that there are no damages.
- Do you need transport back to an airport? During branch opening hours, you can make use of either collections or a shuttle bus at airport locations, however you need to let the branch know in advance.
