Beware morning-after motoring (latest news)

More than one in 10 motorists (13%) who were arrested for drink-driving last year were caught between 5 am and 12 noon, according to new statistics.

The startling figure was revealed after a Freedom of Information request by Autoglass to Britain’s 43 police forces. This showed that in 2011 there were a total of 39,259 drink-drive arrests in the 26 constabularies that responded to the enquiry, with 5,049 of those taking place in the seven hours up to midday.

Volvo Car Corporation is to unveil the all-new Volvo V40 at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show on 6th March. It hopes that the new model will overtake the competition in the Premium Hatchback class.

Travel & Tourism to boost UK economy (latest news)

The UK will be increasingly reliant on Travel & Tourism in 2012, according to a report by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). The figures reveal that the industry will grow by 1.3% in 2012 – over double the rate of growth in the wider economy, predicted to be 0.6% by the International Monetary Fund.

This rate of growth means that the Travel & Tourism industry is expected to directly contribute £35.6 billion and almost 950,000 jobs to the British economy, says the WTTC.
