Terms & Conditions
Normal terms and conditions of rental apply at all times. All rates include VAT & insurance and are subject to availability. Despite the purchase of insurance an excess will be charged for any vehicle damage. Insurance cover is for UK mainland only unless clearance is granted prior to rental. Rate reductions are available for renters providing their own insurance cover (please ask for details). Rates include breakdown recovery.
Drivers
Drivers must be aged 21 years or over (Standard upwards & minibus – 25 years or over) and possess a full category British driving licence for the type of vehicle rented. A Young Driver supplement may be charged for any driver under 23 years old. Overseas visitors must produce a valid domestic driving licence or an international driving permit accompanied by a passport. Drivers are required to have held a full, clean driving licence for a minimum of 12 months and have a clear insurance record. Certain endorsed licences may be accepted, please contact branch for details. Minibus drivers must be experienced in driving this type of vehicle and have the necessary licence entitlement. An administrative charge will be made for any additional drivers. No person other than the renter or approved additional driver/drivers are permitted to drive the vehicle rented. Seatbelts must be worn at all times as required by law.
Driving Licence / Identification
Driving licences and further forms of identification must be provided. Please note renters with new style driving licences must provide both parts.
Car Rental
Minimum rental period is 1 day. Mileage allowance: 1-3 Days – 250 miles per day FOC/ 4 Days plus – unlimited mileage / Weekend rental (Fri 4.00pm to Mon 9.00am) – 600 miles FOC. Mileage excess: Economy & Compact groups– 4p per mile / Midsize to Family Plus – 7p per mile / Executive and People Carriers – 10p per mile.
Vans & Minibus Rental
Minimum rental period is 4 hours subject to availability. **4 Hour and Evening rentals incur per mile fuel charge. Mileage allowance: 1 Day plus – 250 miles per day FOC. Mileage excess: Economy & Group A – 10p per mile / Group B – 12p per mile / Group C, D, E & Minibus – 15p per mile. These vehicles cannot be taken on a one-way rental.
Dual Control Car Rental
Renter of vehicles must be 17 years or over, possess a current provisional licence and be accompanied at all times by a qualified driver, 23 years or over, who has held a clean, current and valid driving licence for a minimum of 3 years. Additional passengers should not be carried whilst learner driver is under tuition. Minimum period of rental is 1 hour and maximum is 4 hours. **Tuition car rentals incur per mile fuel charge. These vehicles cannot be taken on a one-way rental.
Payments
For advance bookings payment in full is required. For cancellations payment will normally be refunded in full provided 7 days notice is given. Most major credit / debit cards are accepted.
Airport Security Charge
Due to increased security measures at airports a charge of £5 will be added to all reservations for our airport locations.
Rental Extensions
Subject to availability rentals may be extended by contacting the rental office and arranging an extension during time of original rental. Failure to do so will result in the vehicle being uninsured.
Vehicle Availability
To avoid disappointment vehicles should be booked in advance. Models shown and all descriptions are for general guidance only and while every effort is made to comply with requirements we cannot guarantee a specific model. Please note that automatic and estate vehicles will incur an additional charge.

Arnold Clark reserve the right to refuse rental and to cancel bookings due to inclement weather and operational problems outwith their control. Arnold Clark also reserve the right to change terms and conditions without notice.
